Here are more photos from the
1959 Nats report
that was published last month (August 1959). A couple of famous names appear: John
Tatone, Walt Good, Russ Nichols. If you seen yourself or someone you know in any
of the pictures here on AirplanesAndRockets.com, please send me a note and I'll
add you to the caption.
John Tatone, San Francisco, Calif., shown with his beautifully
detailed Meyers MAC 145. His Tipsy Jr. earned a third place in CLFS event.
Two unidentified contestants prepare their Dynajet-powered model
in the C/L jet event. We sure didn't envy them in that 96° California heat.
Two industrious young R/Cers shown making repairs to their model
at the Nats. Apparently the wind was too strong for the small ship.
" ... y'mean all of you guys want to join the Navy ... ?" Seems
like the younger set has the Navy outnumbered and bewildered at the Nats.
John C. Allen, Valley Stream, N. Y., prepares his seaplane for
flight in the ROW event. Ship did not place in finals.
Nats Contest Manager Keith Storey shown receiving award from
AMA President Walt Good. while Executive Director Russ Nichols (r) beams approval.
