Here on page 388 of the Sears 1969 Christmas
Wish Book is a wide selection of modern AM-FM clock radios. The ad says, "Instant
sound solid state table and clock radios." In 2011, most people use their cellphone
clocks for everything from appointment keeping to wakeup alarms. Displays are LCD
with a few LED straggles still around. The model shown here can only be found at
the Salvation Army store or a thrift shop... maybe at a yard sale.
Use the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics'
inflation calculator to see
what items cost in today's dollars. That $19.50" AM-FM clock radio would cost $143.06
in 2011 money!
