World War II Axis Countries

World War II Allied & Axis World Map - Airplanes and Rockets

During World War II, the Axis powers were a group of countries that formed a military alliance to support each other's territorial expansion and share common ideologies. The main Axis powers were:

Germany: Led by Adolf Hitler and the National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nazi Party), Germany sought to dominate Europe and establish a racially-based empire.

Italy: Under the leadership of Benito Mussolini and the National Fascist Party, Italy aimed to revive the Roman Empire and expand its influence in the Mediterranean and Africa.

Japan: Ruled by Emperor Hirohito, Japan pursued an aggressive expansionist policy in East Asia and the Pacific, seeking to establish a "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere."

Later in the war, other countries joined the Axis alliance, including:

Hungary Romania Bulgaria Finland Additionally, there were several other countries that were aligned with or collaborated with the Axis powers to varying degrees during the war, but the main Axis coalition was led by Germany, Italy, and Japan. On the opposing side were the Allied powers, including countries such as the United States, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, China, and others, who fought against the Axis powers to defeat them and restore peace.
