June 1960 Aero Modeller - Airplanes and RocketsTable of Contents

These pages from vintage modeling magazines like Flying Aces, Air Trails, American Modeler, American Aircraft Modeler, Young Men, Flying Models, Model Airplane News, R/C Modeler, captured the era. All copyrights acknowledged.

Veron Velox Kit on StuntHanger.com - Airplanes and RocketsMuch more so in the pre-Internet days than today, obtaining or even knowing about model airplane products in foreign countries was difficult. Unless an aircraft modeling magazine, of which there might have been three or four in 1960, happened to report on something like this Velox kit from Veron, in the UK, there was almost no way most hobbyists would ever learn of it. My guess is that most model magazines published in foreign lands were brought back to the U.S. in the duffle bags of military members and their families. Velox models have recently sold on eBay for more than $100, and there is a fairly extensive Velox thread on the StuntHanger.com forum.

About Airplanes & Rockets

Even during the busiest times of my life I have endeavored to maintain some form of model building activity. This website has been created to help me chronicle my journey through a lifelong involvement in model aviation, which all began in Mayo, Maryland...
